SHAINA JOEL PHOTOGRAPHY
For 16 years I've participated in street festivals across Southern California as a volunteer chalk artist, receiving over a dozen awards for my work as well as being listed as a Featured Artist. The following are a few of my favorite pieces from over the years, most of which were hand drawn on an asphalt ground, blended by hand with standard store-bought sticks of chalk. The subjects were chosen based on the given theme of each event and relevance during that time. These outdoor street murals range from 6ft to 12ft in actual size and have taken a meticulous 20 to 36 hours to create, hunched on the ground over the course of 2 to 3 consecutive days to then be forever washed away shortly after.
